Fixed Braces in Canary Wharf

Straight teeth make your smile perfect. Braces do just that. Fixed braces are a tried and tested orthodontic treatment.

Fixed Brace<br />
Straight teeth make your smile perfect. Braces do just that. Fixed braces are a tried and tested orthodontic treatment. Whether traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, or lingual braces, these correct a range of misalignments to straighten teeth. They are the most effective at moving teeth.

They are designed for all malocclusions, including severe ones. And not having to remove them means they are low-maintenance. Invisible braces with ceramic or clear brackets are more discreet if you prefer traditional fixed braces with a low-key look. Lingual braces are incognito as they are fixed behind the teeth. Both types of braces are more aesthetically pleasing.

Unlike removable braces, you won’t lose them or need to take them out when eating and drinking. They are always moving your teeth to the correct position. Your orthodontist will help you decide on the best type of braces for your misalignment. Modern braces are subtle, hidden, and more comfortable. There’s no need to feel self-conscious.

Fixed braces at Mouth Dental

Our resident orthodontists provide bespoke alignment solutions with personalised treatment plans. They help you choose the best treatment option for your malocclusion. Our clear braces are inconspicuous and made from high-quality materials that are stronger. We offer the Lingual Full and Lingual Lite treatments with the gold bracket option. If only your front teeth need straightening, Lingual Lite corrects the front upper and lower 6 teeth. The smooth, low-profile gold braces follow the individual contours of your teeth for better comfort and minimal interference with speech.

If fixed braces are highly inconvenient for you, our orthodontic solutions extend to removable braces, such as Invisalign or Six Month Smiles.

Fixed braces vs. other types

Fixed braces are only removable by dentists. They need regular adjusting to tighten as teeth move. There is no need to take them out at meal times or for cleaning. Removable aligners are clear plastic trays with a recommended wear time of 20-22 hours a day. These should be taken out when eating and drinking anything else other than water. They are also removed when cleaning teeth. The clear aligners do not have to be adjusted as teeth move. Instead, they are replaced with new trays. Removable aligners may not be suitable for severe malocclusions.

Frequently asked questions

What are fixed braces?

Fixed braces are orthodontic appliances that the patient cannot remove by themselves. They are made of square brackets attached to the front of each tooth, with a wire running through them. They gradually move teeth into the correct alignment. Fixed braces usually have metal brackets and a metal wire, but clear brackets and brackets behind teeth are also used.

When do you need fixed braces instead of removable braces?

Severe malocclusions are often corrected with traditional fixed braces. When you have severe underbites, overbites, large gaps, rotated teeth, protrusive teeth, intrusion, or crooked teeth due to overcrowding, fixed braces offer better results. Too-short or pegged teeth prevent aligners from working properly.

What are the conditions that can be corrected through fixed braces?

They can correct mild to severe misalignments and malocclusions. These include overcrowding, spacing, open bites, crossbite, underbites, overbites, intrusions, extrusions, rotated teeth, crooked teeth, and teeth with work done like bridges.

What are the benefits of fixed braces?

Fixed braces are constantly moving teeth into the correct position. These braces can correct all misalignments. They do not need to be removed for eating, drinking, or brushing. There is no risk of losing them like removable trays. Traditional braces are better for children who may not be able to keep up with the high maintenance and care aligners need.

What are the different types of braces offered at Mouth Dental?

We provide traditional metal braces, lingual braces, and ceramic braces for fixed brace treatments. Invisalign is also offered when removable braces are right for you.

Are fixed braces painful to wear?

You may feel a slight discomfort at first and after adjustments, but it soon fades, and you will be comfortable after.

Fixed braces: Wear and Care Instructions

You should be brushing your teeth 2-3 times a day for at least 3 minutes each time. Use a regular toothbrush to brush along the outer surfaces of your teeth and gumline. Brush in between the braces with an interdental brush. Use alcohol-free fluoride mouthwash regularly. Avoid fizzy, sugary, alcoholic, and hot drinks, as well as hard, acidic, chewy, and teeth staining foods.

What are fixed braces made out of?

Traditional metal braces are made from medical-grade stainless steel. Clear braces are made from ceramic and clear plastic with metal wire or frosted metal wire.

Do you need to re-adjust fixed braces?

Yes, fixed braces need to be adjusted every 4-10 weeks.

What is the process of getting fixed braces re-adjusted?

Your orthodontist uses rubber bands and fresh elastics to adjust your braces and tighten archwires with gentle pressure. It helps to ensure the teeth are moving in the right direction. Lingual braces may have a self-ligating mechanism, and elastic bands are not used to tighten the braces.

How can you tell if your braces need to be re-adjusted?

Your orthodontist is the best person to decide when your braces need to be adjusted. However, if you feel that your braces are loose, moving, or too tight, you need to see your orthodontist for re-adjustments.

How much do fixed braces cost at Mouth Dental?

Fixed braces from £2,600
Lingual Braces from £5,500
