What is Profhilo?
Profhilo® is a stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid treatment for ageing skin losing elasticity and firmness. It is formulated with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This first of its kind injectable gel is designed to stimulate skin cell receptors to treat skin laxity to improve and restore skin firmness. The stimulating activity on the derma cells is a prolonged one, making the results last longer. Profhilo contains the highest concentration of HA on the market. The formula not only boosts and hydrates the skin but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue.
Using Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP), the HA is delivered to 5 strategic points on facial skin to optimise the diffusion of intra-dermal injections. How does Profhilo work?
Turgor, resilience, and pliability of youthful skin are due to its high water retention capability. The ageing process results in the loss of moisture. The fundamental molecule related to skin moisture is hyaluronic acid (HA), which has a unique capacity to retain water, binding over one thousand times its weight in water. HA naturally occurs in the human body, including the skin, eyes, and synovial fluid of the joints. Profhilo stimulates collagen and elastin to attract water in the deeper layers of the skin with pure hyaluronic acid injected into the area under treatment. Profhilo works as a hydrator rather than a filler.
Unlike a non-stabilised gel, the stabilised Profhilo prolongs activity on dermal cells. During the slow release of hyaluronic acid, the cells are stimulated with four different types of collagen and elastin. This process improves tissues significantly by tightening and lifting tissues.
If you have a greater degree of skin laxity and deeper lines & wrinkles, Profhilo treatment can be combined with other skin rejuvenation treatments.
The treatment process
The full treatment consists of 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart. Very fine needles are used to inject hyaluronic acid just beneath the skin, where it disperses quickly to react with your own tissues to boost hydration. Before treatment begins, a numbing cream or an anaesthetic will be applied to make the process more comfortable for you. The solution freely spreads in the dermis stimulating your own production of collagen and elastin. It requires only 5 injection points on each side of the face. The process takes only 10 minutes. As the 5 injection points are located in anatomically receptive areas with the absence of large vessels and nerve branches, it minimises the risk of side effects.
Profhilo regenerates tissue naturally, enhancing skin tone, texture, elasticity, and hydration rather than adding volume superficially.
Avoid taking blood thinners like aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, fish oil, multivitamins, or vitamin E at least 24 hours before the treatment, as they can increase the appearance of bruising after.

Contraindications
Anyone with bleeding disorders and immunocompromised disorders, such as autoimmune disorder, HIV, diabetes, cancer, or other infectious diseases, should consult their doctor before considering treatment with Profhilo.
Those who have an allergy to hyaluronan, anaphylaxis reaction to bee-stings, and a keloid scarring condition should not get this treatment. If you are experiencing symptoms of a cold or sinusitis, have a dental treatment scheduled in a month, or have overseas travel planned within 4 days, the treatment should be postponed.
Cosmetic intra-dermal injections are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What is the recovery period?

Any further cosmetic procedures should be not carried out in the treated area for 48 hours. Avoid saunas or steam baths and protect your skin from the sun for the first week.
