Enlighten Teeth Whitening

Enlighten is a breakthrough teeth whitening system that offers the most effective results with the lowest concentrations. It is also the only system that guarantees Vita Shade B1.

On your first visit, we will do a whitening analysis of your teeth and take a high-accuracy impression of your teeth using Enlighten impression material. It will be used to make a bespoke dental tray at a lab by Enlighten for your teeth. This tray is used to hold the whitening gel for at-home whitening for two weeks. You will also receive an at-home whitening kit that includes a special toothpaste and anti-sensitivity product.
You have to wear the tray overnight for two weeks. Enlighten teeth whitening works by chemical oxidation when the active ingredient passes through the dental enamel to remove stains. By increasing the tooth’s permeability to oxygen helps break down stain molecules. The process takes time, like all good things in life, so it’s important to finish the treatment as directed by your dentist.
After the at-home process is complete, you will have an in-chair session at Mouth Dental for a 40-60 minutes whitening procedure. It is the last step in the process to get whiter teeth.

Finally, you will receive whitening toothpaste and serum by Enlighten to maintain that new white lustre for a long time. Mouth Dental has one of the most exclusive well-stocked shops for prescription toothpaste and whitening products.

Why you should get Enlighten Teeth Whitening?

Enlighten offers the world’s best-performing whitening treatments that do not cause tooth sensitivity like other whitening agents. The limited concentration of Carbamide Peroxide and Hydrogen Peroxide used for whitening protects your teeth and gums from burns and dehydration. It also means that there is no damage to your enamel. Enlighten can whiten up to 16 shades for whiter smiles. Enlighten toothpaste in home-whitening kits contain Hydroxyapatite (HAP), a major constituent of teeth enamel. It repairs and regenerates soft tissue and bone. Your teeth will be a natural-looking shade of colour.

Reasons why you may need a teeth whitening procedure

While each one of us is beautiful in our own way and gifted with unique smiles, nature always intended white smiles for us. Discoloured, stained, and yellowed teeth can dent a person’s confidence and hold them back from smiling. Smiling is one of the most beautiful human reactions and we all should be able to smile without fear.

There are several reasons why teeth discolour and stain. These can be extrinsic, intrinsic, or age-related causes. Extrinsic causes happen due to something that comes in contact with your teeth. Intrinsic causes stem from inside your teeth or body.
Like our hair grays with time, teeth, too, will lose their bright whiteness gradually with age. With age, the outer layer of the enamel wears away, exposing the dentin, which is yellow. The dentin also grows with time, decreasing the size of the pulp, thereby decreasing the translucency of the teeth, making them appear darker.
Some are genetically fortunate with thicker and whiter enamels; others not so much. Thinner enamels tend to lose their whiteness easily.
Poor dental hygiene, like not brushing & flossing teeth properly or regularly, and not flossing can build up plaque and food stains.
Smoking or chewing tobacco stains teeth. Certain foods and drinks also cause staining. Tea, coffee, red wine, white wine, dark colas, fizzy drinks, starchy foods, tomato-based sauces, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, berries, curry, and candy can stain teeth.
While fluoride keeps teeth healthy, too much fluoride during teeth formation either from water or toothpaste/ rinses can cause fluorosis, white spots on teeth. Calcium deficiency can also cause teeth discolouration.
Antibiotics like tetracycline and doxycycline can affect enamel formation in children under 8. Mouth rinses and washes containing chlorhexidine and cetylpyridinium chloride can stain teeth. Antihistamines, antipsychotic, and antihypertensive medications also tend to cause teeth discolouration.
Early childhood trauma can interrupt enamel formation, and adult teeth can discolour too due to trauma that causes blood flow disruption to the tooth or the nerve to die.

Benefits of teeth whitening

  • The most important benefit of teeth whitening happens to be the confidence you gain to smile without feeling insecure about your teeth. It can transform your whole demeanor to cheerful.
  • Discoloured teeth can take away the appearance of healthy vibrancy, making you look unhealthy.
  • A healthy, attractive smile becomes the principal facial feature others notice the most and usually distracts from wrinkles, lines, and acne you might have.
  • White teeth are also a sign of youth. So, if you want to look younger, do not forget treatment for your teeth.

How long do the results last?

Results last for 3 years or more with the right care. Enlighten results are longer lasting than an in-office single power whitening. Wearing trays with top-up gel 1 night every other month can make the whitening last indefinitely as long as you also use Enlighten Tooth Serum to brush your teeth.

Aftercare – How to take care of your teeth after the teeth whitening

When your teeth have just had their colour enhanced, it is important to look after them extra carefully.

  • Do not consume stain-causing foods or drinks for a week. Stick to a white diet containing white-coloured and light-coloured food and drink during this period, such as skimmed milk, white bread, egg whites, skinless chicken and turkey, white rice, mayo, peeled potato, and cauliflower.
  • Avoid using a hard-bristled toothbrush and aggressive brushing and flossing. It could bring on tooth sensitivity. Allow your teeth and gums to adjust to the treatment.
  • Use the toothpaste your dentist recommends for brushing.
  • Make sure the beverages and drinks you have are not too hot or cold. You do not want to induce sensitivity.
  • Do not smoke or drink alcohol for a week.
